The métairies of Montoz

This hike takes you past numerous farmhouses and inns typical of the Grand Chasseral. An ideal opportunity to sample quality local produce. Shortly after passing through the village of Tavannes, the trail enters the forest and leads uphill to the Bergerie Le Grimm. It then crosses pastures to reach the Montoz ridge. On this wide, relatively flat trail, the view of the Alps, the Chasseral and Lake Biel is breathtaking. The La Werdtberg restaurant and La Métairie de Malleray welcome hikers for a well-deserved break. The unobstructed views and unspoilt nature of the Montoz ridge give the impression of being cut off from the world. The descent through the pastures leads to La Bergerie du Pré la Patte for a final break. We then enter the forest to finally reach the Reuchenette-Péry railway station.
