Moutier-Bienne stage

The Way of St. James begins in Switzerland in the city of Basel. It passes through Moutier and goes to Payerne. This hiking trail in the Grand Chasseral through the Court Gorge, shaped by the waters of the Birs, is sure to delight you. Further along the route, you will find the Moron tower. It is a magnificent 30m high tower with a 360° view offering a splendid panorama of the Alps.
In 1987 - ten years after the death of Franco and the end of the dictatorship in Spain - the Council of Europe designated the Way of St. James as the First European Cultural Route. This route allows our region to be once again, and in a sustainable way, seen in an international context and, as an important factor of modern civilisation and of gentle and ecological tourism, in a global context.
