A tour round the most beautiful villages

As you enter the Seyon gorges close to the hustle and bustle of Neuchâtel, Valangin is full of calm as it follows the lush Val-de-Ruz under the towering protection of its iconic castle proudly perching on its rocky spur. The historic centre which dates back to the 16th century and from which traffic has been banned for many years, shelters a harmonious blend of colourful old buildings running south from the Tour du Bourg. The ancient collegiate church stands outside the town walls next to the river on the other side of the vaulted gate.

Even though the church, the castle museum and the old town are not to be missed, a visit to Valangin should also include a few small detours. Below the town, the river offers several relaxing walks with uninterrupted views over the village. Just a few metres from the murmur of a waterfall a little tourist train will take you through the delightful natural scenery which forms such a wonderful setting for Valangin.

Visitors come to the Val-de-Ruz for its nature and small villages. Visitors will also find a range of famous local honey. Surrounded by the typical Jura mountain scenery, you will now cross the Chasseral nature reserve whose slopes and meadows are dotted with many farm restaurants and country inns where you can sample local home-made products such as ham with rösti, cutlets from local animals and cheese fondue. The trip continues across the Franches-Montagnes to Saint-Ursanne.
