Murten Classics

The Murten Classics summer festival has been taking place in Murten and the surrounding area since 1989. With more than 30 concerts and 800 musicians from all over Europe, historical venues such as the courtyard of Murten Castle are played.

The varied program appeals to music connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike and with six different concert formats, there is something for all ages. Smaller venues with 80 to 448 seats per concert offer the opportunity to enjoy the music in a very private atmosphere. Each year, our artistic director Christoph-Mathias Mueller chooses a specific theme to guide the concerts. With orchestral concerts, summer night concerts, chamber music concerts, aperitif concerts and family concerts, Murten Classics is the largest platform for classical music on Lake Murten. Originally a small town festival, it is now known throughout Switzerland and Europe.

We are particularly proud of our promotion of young talent, which we have been able to realize in cooperation with the local bank Valiant as our main sponsor for 25 years.
