Col de la Croix and Col des Rangiers were the only link between Ajoie and Le Clos du Doubs until the Trans-Jura A16 motorway was constructed. It is very much appreciated by cyclists and hikers.
Col de la Croix was crossed for the first time by the riders of the Tour de France in the 8th leg of the 2012 race on 8 July. It was classed under the 1st category. Thibaut Pinot from France moved to the front before winning the leg.
