Louis Favre (1822-1904) had a passion for history and traditions, which he immortalised in his stories. His work, in particular André Le Graveur (1874), preserves the old customs of the Neuchâtel mountains through significant episodes, such as the fire in Le Locle in 1844 and the revolutionary upheaval before 1848.
