Winter break around Chasseral
A programme idea for a 48-hour stay between the Bernese Jura and the shores of Lake Biel.

Do you enjoy being active and outdoors in winter too? The winter walks around Les Prés d'Orvin take you through breathtaking Jura landscapes!
The small but beautiful winter sports centre is located 20 minutes outside the city of Biel and is easily accessible by bus.
Various winter hiking trails and snow-shoe routes lead through wide landscapes filled with majestic fir trees and past métairies, the Jura mountain range's typical alpine farms with simple restaurant facilities. Once on the Jura mountain range, you can take in the magnificent views!
After the tranquillity of nature and the sporting activities, the second day is all about enjoyment. Discover the charming town of La Neuveville, wander through the alleyways and indulge in culinary delights by the lake. A visit to a local winegrower is a must at the end of your stay!
Start the day in Biel/Bienne
Get the day underway with a croissant and a cappucino in what is probably Biel's smallest coffee bar while you wait for bus no. 70 to take you to Prés d'Orvin!
Many paths lead to the summit of the Chasseral, even in winter! We recommend the long ridge trail passing over the spine of the Chasseral with its unobstructed view over the Swiss Plateau, or much more likely, an ocean of mist and fog! If there is snow on the ground, then a choice of beautiful snow-shoe walks around the Chasseral awaits.
Take a break in a typical alpine inn and warm up with a fine local fondue!
Back in Biel, you can bring the day to a close at the beautiful Hotel Elite. In the hotel's own rooftop restaurant, L'Entrecôte, you can expect not only an excellent dinner but also a unique view over the rooftops of Biel.
Today let us go to La Neuveville, a medieval town on the shores of Lake Biel.
Stroll through the little town with its colourful houses and pretty boutiques and let yourself be enchanted by its charm.
At lunchtime, enjoy one of the house specialities of the Restaurant Mille Or located in the heart of the old town
Your last excursion in this lake country will take you to meet a Lake Biel winemaker. Here you will gain a deeper insight into the work of the winemaker on a tour of the vines and the cellar. As a crowning finale, you will be invited to taste the wines. Santé!
