Technical visit of the organs of the Bellelay Abbey with organ concert.
The reconstruction or, more accurately, the restoration to the original state of the baroque organ in the Bellelay abbey church is the result of a crazy gamble. The original instrument was sold and moved more than two hundred years ago, and then disappeared in a fire in 1919. A meticulous historical and musicological investigation was therefore carried out, leading to the exact reconstruction of this jewel.
As a result of this marvellous work, there are now three organs to discover: The great organ, the choir organ and the regale. Built according to the methods of the time, these instruments allow us to approach early music repertoires in an authentic way and in their original context. However, the unique qualities of these organs also encourage experimentation with new and hitherto unexplored worlds of sound. Now housed in an ‘empty’ abbey church, the acoustics of which invite contemplation, these three organs are destined to offer all listeners wonderful musical moments.
