Technical visit of the organs of the Bellelay Abbey with organ concert.
The reconstruction or, more precisely, the restoration to the old style of the baroque organ of the abbey church of Bellelay is the result of a crazy bet. Indeed, the instrument was removed from the place more than two hundred years ago and disappeared in a fire in 1919. A meticulous historical and musicological investigation took place, at the risk of offending the Premonstratensian order, on which the abbey depended until the French Revolution. It can be described as a Benedictine work.
This marvellous work currently provides three organs to be discovered: The Great organ, the choir organ and the Regal organ. Built according to the methods of the time, these instruments enable one to approach the repertoires of early music in an authentic way and in their original context. Nevertheless, the singular qualities of these organs also encourage the experience of new and previously unexplored sound universes. Today, these three organs are located in an "empty" abbey church, whose acoustics invite contemplation. They are intended to offer wonderful musical moments to all listeners.
