The industrial development of Delémont began with the exploitation of iron ore, an abundant resource in the region. Until the 1920s, miners extracted the raw material, which was then processed in blast furnaces and foundries. The century-old Rondez pithead building is one of the last vestiges of iron ore mining.
During this fascinating tour, you will discover buildings and unusual places, witnesses of the city’s urban, industrial and demographic development between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. A local guide will offer anecdotes and explain the history behind these architectural witnesses.
