A baroque architectural gem steeped in history, Maison Chappuis is a listed historic monument. But most importantly, it gives a glimpse of a great family: the Chappuis of Auberge de la Croix Blanche. It was in this house that Mother Marie de Sales Chappuis was born, the inspiration behind the Congregation of Oblate Sisters of St. Francis de Sales.

In this intimate museum, you will find artefacts telling the story of a family under the last Prince-Bishopric of Basel, not to mention the French Revolution and Napoleon, the Bishopric's incorporation into the Canton of Bern, its “venerable” child and the youngest Swiss canton.
