Biel - Ins

This pilgrimage trail of St. James starts in Switzerland in the city of Basel. It leads through Moutier and heads over to Payerne. This is a not-to-be-missed stage on the Bernese Jura Trail, as the footpath runs along Lake Biel and offers breathtaking scenery.
In 1987 - ten years after the death of Franco and the end of the dictatorship in Spain - the Council of Europe designated the Way of St. James as the First European Cultural Route. This route allows the region Biel-Seeland to be once again, and in a sustainable way, seen in an international context and, as an important factor of modern civilisation and of gentle and ecological tourism, in a worldwide context.
